Has anyone had issues with the resistance buttons not working on the Row? I have a brand new machine and it worked for 1 month. I have been trying to resolve the issue with Echelon for almost two months now without success. I have changed out the controller with a new one and still not working. Thoughts?

Welcome @Daedalus. Can you try steps?

If you have just received the rower and your resistance is not changing, please be sure to check the back of the handlebar to remove the white tag and enable resistance.

If resistance is still not working try the steps below to re-pair the controller:

Hi Brent, thanks for reaching out. When I received my new controller, it did not come with any instructions. I had no idea that you had to reset the controller by holding the buttons for 30 seconds. I will give it a try and let you know if it works.

What is going on with Echelon's resistance buttons?! People have had issues with the bikes and now the rower? This is nuts.

So, the only thing that I had not tried when I received a new resistance controller was to push both buttons in simultaneously for 30 seconds to reset he controller. This did not work so I am back to square one.

Did anyone figure this out? I’m having the same problem. Tried to repair by holding buttons down and got the quick flashing blue lights but it still doesn’t change resistance. Echelon Row-S brand new…

I read somewhere that someone took the side panel off the rower and had to hook some control lever to the resistance or something. I am working my way through echelon support but each email takes about 4-7 days to get a response. This is a ridiculously bad support for a $1700 piece of equipment. Echelon, get your head out of your ass…

Same rower issue here. When it first arrived the resistance didn’t work, then through very bad customer service I eventually got a replacement resistance unit after two months. That still didn’t work so they replaced the whole rower. Then a year and a half later the resistance stopped working again. I wrote the customer service but got no response; then a new resistance unit showed up in the mail (along with emails from customer service). I installed the new unit, but it still does not control the resistance. I guess the problem is inside this piece of crap rower.

Hey there, would you mind explaining what the "resistance unit" is? I just tried my 2nd controller replacement from Echelon with no success so I am trying to figure out what is next for me to try. Did you have to open up the Row-S to replace it? What did they tell you it was supposed to do?

No, I’m in the same boat as you. It’s just that flimsy RF controller unit. If you are under warranty, they will replace the entire rower (after the 2nd RF doesn’t work). That happened to me initially , but after a year and a half, I’ve got the same problem again. Echelon was nice enough to send another RF controller but it doesn’t work. The Amazon extended warranty is good; so I got my $1000 bucks back. My wife is pressuring me to get a Peyton. Ugh.

I’m having the same issues as well. Have tried multiple batteries, different app devices and replaced the controller, still no luck

Yeah. Thankfully the Amazon extended warranty just gave me my money back. I think the controller, and the rower’s inability to recognize the controller is the rower’s fatal flaw. It’s going out on big trash day next week.

I will contact support again. I'm not sure if we bought the Amazon extended warranty. So we might be out of luck. I might push echelon to refund our money if it happens again after total rower replacement.
