Linking to Garmin

Any plans to link your results so that automatically feed Garmin? For those of us who also exercise outdoors, this would be welcome. We bought the bike so that my wife could use it for training and she is not using it like we thought since it doesn't link to Garmin so her coach can see the data!

hey @BobK welcome to the forum. I can't say that I've seen someone connect their bike with Garmin. I've only heard of being able to connect with fitibit/strava. Have there been other issues with the bike or is that the main one?
No other problems with bike. I was asking if you are planning to develop your software to integrate with Garmin like you do Strava or Fitbit. I'd love to be able to get the results out of the app and into Garmin -- possibly with a TCX file export capability like IFIT has.
@BobK as far as I know, the only solution is to start your Garmin cycling activity when you start pedaling and later sync it to your Garmin account. Far from an actual solution but the only option till Echelon does something or when we find a workaround.
I haven't found a way to connect it to my Garmin Vivoactive 4s, however I've heard from others that could with the newest Garmin Fenix.

I wish the process involved less apps and manual editing....but for me when I start up a class I do the following:
  • Start my Indoor Bike activity on Garmin
  • I also wear my Wahoo chest strap heart rate monitor because it will connect to their app so I can see it on there
  • I have also elected to pair my Echelon account with my Strava account so that it will send my after ride distance and time spent there
  • My Garmin is also connected to Strava
The thing that stinks is that when they feed over to Strava, neither captures all the information I want. The below two activities were actually ONE activity fed into Strava separately by Garmin and Echelon. My Garmin activity has my average heart rate, calories and time; my Echelon activity has the distance, time and speed. Wish I could marry all that info into one activity post.

That's a bit annoying that it's split between the two devices but it's great to see that it can actually be done.

I've sort of given up. I tried that, but it's painful. I do the workout and take a picture of the screen at the end with my phone. ECHELON should just attach the picture (I suspect they could capture a screenshot at the end of every workout) and send that to you attached to the end of workout email...

I totally agree with how exhausting it is trying to figure out a work around; and then the work around is a hassle each time! And, I agree. Echelon should be able to send a screenshot of the workout in the email. Also, since they already have paired up with Strava, it would be nice if they sent ALL the stats to Strava! Like output throughout ride, average output, heart rate, etc.

I actually have a different app downloaded that connects to my Echelon that does save all this info for me so I can upload it to my Strava. It shows all the info I need during the ride, just like the Echelon app, with a few added things like what zone I'm currently riding in. This allows me to fully participate in Power Zone training over on the Peloton app. Problem is, I can't use that app while the Echelon app is open, as the bike will only connect and send info to one app. I go back and forth between Echelon classes and Peloton classes. My Echelon subscription is free for one year and the Peloton app is around $13/month so worth it for me. I pasted the Strava zone info from my ride yesterday below. This group over on Facebook discusses the app, and the developer is on the group as well and responds almost daily to questions, feedback, requests. The app was $5.99 on Google Play and I think it's $3.99 on Apple. Facebook Groups

I agree It really is shortsighted for Echelon to not have a solution.

How long have you been using your Echelong for @ZerbZones? How do you find the classes are compared to Peloton?
@York I've been using Echelon and Peloton since mid-November. I like them both for different reasons. I really am liking the Power Zone training with Peloton, and actually joined a challenge that begins next week, so will be using Peloton a lot more over the next few months.

To me, the Echelon classes feel more like what it would feel like in a really good local spin studio. There's more of a community feel, the instructors seem like individuals you might bump in to out in the grocery store, it's more raw I guess. I also do like being able to participate in the leaderboard.....sometimes. Other times I swipe it away.

The Peloton classes feel more like a really well produced workout video with top notch talent that still maintains a little bit of that community feel.

That said, I am betting the feel of Echelon will change a bit as their membership explodes.

With both, I prefer doing the endurance rides with a sprinkle of a harder ride during the week, as it more aligns to my current goals. I like that Peloton has separated the zones in to 7, while Echelon divides it into 5. Also Peloton has more formalized zone training with the FTP test and all. Echelon has the endurance classes, but doesn't really have good foundational information about it, nor is it part of a training program. Echelon gets you into higher outputs in their endurance classes (usually focusing on moderate and challenging), because they only have the 5 zones. When I'm in their challenging zone, it would translate to Peloton zone 4 and sometimes even 5 when I'm on the high end of that challenging zone. Peloton endurance classes keep you in zones 2 and 3. I like the Echelon endurance when I need a bit of a tougher ride, but still mostly in my aerobic zones.

I don't have a lot of experience with other Echelon classes, although I do know that Lindsay Gurry will kick your ass! I'm sure there are others, but she is tough!

I probably WAY over answered your question. 😂
